去る秋に京都は大山崎にあるウィスキー工場に行った。山崎の水と人によって愛されたウィスキーが造られていく工程が動だとすれば、反対に数百台もある樽が全て年代別に分けられ熟成するために寝かされているような部屋は静だったといえる。

その部屋の中を散策していると"1982年"と銘打たれた樽を見つけた。
「おない年だな」
と妙な親近感を覚えながらパチリと一枚。

俺が生まれた年であり、両親が自分を産んだ年だ。

ガイドがこう案内した。
「樽の中のウイスキーは少しずつ減っていきます。それは職人たちが『より美味しくなるように』と天使に少しだけ分けているからです。だから『天使の分け前』というのです」

だから俺は全ての人生がウイスキーであればいいと思う。決められた量が全ての人に与えられる。でもその中のウヰスキーを美味しくするかは、樽と天使にかかっている。樽はきっとそれぞれの生き方だ。選んでいるように見えて、何が選ばれているのかわからない、そんな生き方が樽の中身を変えていく。
そして、天使は出会うべき人たちだ。あなたの人生に豊饒な香りと円やかさを付け加えてくれるような。そんな人たちが人生をもきっともっと美味しくしてくれる。

1982年のウイスキーは、まだいい。
2042年、60歳になったぐらいでちょうどいい。
そのときに還暦のウイスキーの人生話でも聞いてみようじゃないか。
「君はどうだった」と。

In October 2006, I went to the Suntory factory in Ooyamasaki, Kyoto. It was dynamic that the water and human kinds make the whiskey, but it was static that the room is prepared for aging them.

And I found the pipe branded 1982.
"You're 22 as well."
Then I took the photo of the pipe.

and the tour guide goes like this...
"Whiskey in the pipe decreases year by year, since the craftspeople give some to Angels to make the whiskey taste better. That is why the depletion of the whiskey is called "Angel's share" in where the whiskey is from.

Then I thought every life is compared to a whiskey. Given amount of whiskey is distributed to the pipe named life. The pipe has a strong power on deciding the taste of whiskey, but we cannot choose them; they are mostly chosen. Angels are people you meet. They are the conditions of your whiskey; temperature, humiditiy etc.

I don't wanna drink whiskey made in 1982.
It would be good to drink in 2042, when I become 60.
and we will talk about how our 60 years passed by.
and I'll say "How was it?"
